Why I moved all the list of articles into an org file?

There are many reasons.

  1. Instapaper increased the yearly subscription price to $60. They probably have their reasons. But I cannot afford it. I need a way to move all my bookmarked articles out of Instapaper to somewhere else. The question is where should they be moved to?
    1. One drawback with moving out of Instapaper is, we will lose the “search the article text” feature.
  2. I looked at Nextcloud bookmarks as an option. The whole Nextcloud ecosystem seems choppy right now. I am not sold on it 100%.
  3. In retrospect, managing them in an org file makes much more sense - considering the following reasons.
    1. I am a heavy Emacs user.
    2. The flexibility we get with plain text is amazing. I can group them, sort them, prioritize them, do whatever I want very easily. It is also very easy to keep track of the articles that I already read.
    3. I will know the sources of the articles just by looking at the url.
      1. It helps with evaluating subscriptions for various sources like wired, wsj, barrons, etc.
      2. If a subscription is ending, we can focus on reading those articles first.
